St. Leger Will Not Be Run At Hurst Park; May Take Place at Newmarket Later

London, Sept. 25.

The meeting at Hurst Park on September 28, including the St. Leger, has been cancelled. It is hoped to run the St. Leger at the Newmarket meeting at the end of October.

The war has hit racing men hard, and it is natural that those who can recoup their losses to some extent will do so. The Aga Khan has obtained £40,000 by the sale of his Derby winner Bahram to an American syndicate.

At is to be hoped, however, that not many breeders will get rid of their best stallions in this way, for the future of the British blood-stock industry is at stake. There are too few horses of that calibre to make their loss a trifling matter.
