A correspondent calls attention to a mild instance of squeezing at the Mixed Court yesterday which came to his knowledge. A carpenter was fined one quarter of a dollar for obstructing the Sorner of Peking and Shanse Roads by placing wood. in the streets. Not having the money in his possession he was locked up for about an hour, when a friend arrived to pay the fine; but in the meantime, the quarter dollar had swollen to half a dollar and a hundred cash, and this amount had to be paid before the man was released. The extra quarter dollar seems to have been the squeeze of one of the runners, and the 100 cash was the squeeze of the man who had charge of the prisoner, as a sort of payment for his trouble in letting him out—120 per cent. is rather a heavy squeeze on a fine levied by a magistrate. y's at the lowest trices, (Only sie profit is added on the got what we purchased.) with CASTORIA!
