Tokyo, Sept. 30.
The report of an early resumption of the Anglo-Japanese Conference on Tientsin, carried by the "Asahi" and other newspaj was categorically denied by ti kesman of the Foreign Office, id Japanese newspapermen "this® morning that the Japanese Government has hitherto not received any proposals from the British Government for the resumption of the Tokyo parley.
Qualified observers here believe that the Japanese Government is taking a "cautious attitude regarding the question of the resumption of the Anglo-Japanese Conference, in view of the home and foreign situation."
They say that the Japanese Government is rot likely to accept British proposals for the resumption of the Tokyo parley, even if made, uni "definite prospects" are in sight for an amicable settlement of questions, because should the second Anglo-
Japanese Conference strike a snag, like the first one, relations between the Japanese Government and Great Britain will be further worsened.—
