French combat planes shot down 24 German chaser planes in September and only eight French choser planes and several reconnaissance planes were lost, semi-official sources said last night, AN aerial battles, with few exceptions, were fought behind the German lines, it was said, French squadrons therefore were exposed to. the additional hazard of German anti-aircraft fire, it was pointed out. The French, it was said, successfully completed all reconnaissance flights whereas the Germans were alleged to have failed to accomplish a single mission.—United Press.
