New York, Oct. 11.
The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, addressing the Corn Trade Convention here yesterday, said that non-participation in the war and an impartial attitude toward antagonists is the wisest and safest course for the United States.
He declared that non-participation would leave the United States free to trade in commodities with both sides within neutrality limitations.
He warned against post-war nationalistic and economic policies which would bring "an indefinite period of alternating economic conflicts and armed warfare until the best attainments of civilization and progress have been destroyed."—United Press.
