Chinese civilian bodies in Shanghai are reported by the "Shun Pao" to have jointly sent a telegram General Chiang Kai-shek congratulating him for the recapture of Foochow. capital of Fukien. Preparations are being made to resume telegraphic communications between Shanghai and Foochow but resumption of shipping between the two cities cannot be expected at present owing to the blockade of the Min River in Fukien. The Chinese press in Shanghai attaches great importance to the recapture of Foochow judging from the big headlines given to the news on Thursday night and yesterday morning when the recapture of of bet important Fukien districts, including Memel. was also reported.
