Hongkong, Nov. 10.
Passengers from the Imperial Air-Ways flying-boat Dardanus, forced down on Waichow Island on Wednesday, arrived here today aboard the U, S.S. Mindanao. This afternoon they were engaged making statements to the British authorities.
It is authoritatively learned that no less than five Japanese planes swooped down on the Dardanus, opened up intense machine-gun fire from a distance of 200 feet, and continued pumping bullets into the flying-boat while it. was descending, resulting in the machine being absolutely riddled.
Only the expert skill and intense coolness of Pilot Joe Wilson, an Australian, saved the machine and occupants from complete destruction.—Reuter.
