Attacks Repeated

"The first bomber arrived over the objective soon after 9.30 last night, the Ministry said. "Others took up the attack at intervals and further salvoes of heavy and incendiary bombs were launched at the enemy guns. Battery positions near Audenburg and St. Ingelbert in the same area were also bombed."

Military experts here said the German guns on the French coast were "possibly mounted on railway cars using branch lines to coastal points to enable a quick withdrawal if necessary."

Eye witnesses on the south-east coast on Thursday reported that British long range coastal batteries bombarded the German guns across the Channel, after flashes from the mouths of the German guns had betrayed their positions. The British found the range quickly, they said and sent many salvoes of shells screaming across the Channel.

"For a few minutes," one eye witness said, "the action looked like an artillery duel. Then the German fire was noticeably slackened."
