When the Italians Won the "Boat Race"

First pictures to be received in Shanghai of the naval engagement between Britain aid Italy on July 9 in which the Italians managed to race home with the British ships on their tails.

The pictures, taken on board an Italian warship, show (top) British shells bursting too close to Italian ships for the comfort of their crews and (bottom) a salvo being fired from an Italian ship. Later British naval supremacy was proved in an engagement between the Australian cruiser, Sydney, and the Italian cruiser, Bartolemeo Colleoni (formerly stationed in Shanghai) when the latter ship was sunk.
