Welfare Work

An annual campaign for $100,000 was started yesterday By National Child Welfare Association of China. It will last for a period of three weeks.

The N.C.W.A. was organized by Christian leaders in Shanghsi in 1928 in response to a movement, started by a welfare organization for children in New York with the object to advocate, protect, and ensure the rights of the children of China, and to promote, in every possible way their well-being.

Since the outbreak of the present hostilities m. 1937, the relief work of the Association has become more acute as millions of children have been rendered homeless and parentless, To facilitate the relief work in interior places, the Acsocietion's head office removed to Chungking while the headquarters in Shanghai was made as the Shanghai Office. In Shanghai, the Association is maintaining three institutions. They are the Child Welfare Home, Refugee Babies' Nursery and Refugee Babies' Nursery.
