Title Bout Considered For Manila in March Possible Meeting of Garcia And Henry Armstrong

Manila, Jan. 4.

Jes Cortes, local sports promoter, announced that he was waiting for word from George Parnassus, manager of Ceferino Garcia, to determine whether it would be feasible to open negotiations to stage a bout between Garcia and Henry Armstrong, world welterweight champion.

Cortes, who recently staged the world middleweight championship between Garcia, New York Boxing Commission champion, and Glen Lee, here said he was thinking of matching Garcia with Armstrong here in March.

He also said that he hoped to bring the National Boxing Association flyweight champion, Little Dado, to Manila to defend his title.

Cortes emphasized that he was not discouraged by the financial failure of the Garcia-Lee fight which he attributed to poor weather conditions and postponements necessitated by the late arrival here of Jack Dempsey, who refereed the fight.

Parnassus is en route to San Francisco and Cortes said he expected to hear from him after the boxing manager reaches California.—United Press,
