Air attacks over Britain last night were once again directed principally against London, but a number of bombs were dropped on a town in the Midlands and on Merseyside, states an Air Ministry communique. There were isolated attacks on other parts of the country also, particularly in the south.
Houses in many parts of London suburban areas were hit but the total damage both to dwellings and industrial buildings was not severe. There are no indications from reports on casualties se far received that they have been large. In a town in the Midlands houses were damaged, but only very slight damage.was done to industrial buildings. In Mersey-side attacks had a similar result, being almost entirely confined to dwelling houses, a number of which were de molished. In both areas fires were started but were speedily put out. Casualties were few though some were killed, In several other parts of the country houses were damaged. Reports indicate, however, that casualties have been small and taken as à whole damage hus not been heavy. During yesterday's attacks four German alr" craft were destroyed and four British fighters lost.
