French Forces "B" Score Narrow Win

Beat Club Vice-Captain's Side by 3-0 After Scrappy Exhibition of Rugby

In a rather scrappy rugby encounter at the Race Course yesterday afternoon a French Forces "B" XV narrowly defeated the Club Vice-Captain's team by three points (one try) to nil. Of the Club selected side only nine players put man appearence with the result that six members had to be picked up from the pavilion and touchlines to make up the requisite number. Neither fifteen cisplayed'much initiative and for very long paneds the bell travelled backwards and forwards across the field in an aimless sort of manner.

The drive of Demail was lacking in the French side who, however, were well served by Founs and Valve, their regular half-backs while Pelegry znd Oslame always constituted a threat to the none-too-safe Club defence. Had the winners taken the chances offered them they should have at least reached double figures but though they enjoyed' far more of the play from a territorial viewpoint, little impression could be made against the losers' outsides. Lums-dame. on one or two occasions tried very hard for the Club but his terrifle speed was not utilized as much as it should have been. He came very close once late in the second half when he outstripped the entire French defence save the full back who' pulled the winger to the grass öfter the latter had made a brilliant fifty yard dash.

The only score in the game came half-way through the second half when Pelegry, playing right-centre, secured after a useful passing movement and made an electrifying burst of speed some fifteen yards to score between the posts. The kick failed narrowly, the ball hitting the bar and bouncing back into the field of play.

Five minutes from no-side Weid-man had an excellent opportunity to level the scores but he failed to kick a penalty goal from.a comparatively easy, position close in.
