The murder and burial of Mayor Fu Siao-en has precipitated a bitter fight, triangular in nature, over the appointment of a successor. The struggle is so desperate that there may be further bloodshed.
The likeliest candidate (when this was written) was Chen Kung-po. who followed Wang Ching-wei to Nanking rather reluctantly and is handicap-the lack of followers. The other candidate, who has plenty of and an ample supply of guns, is Chou Fu-hai.
