Vichy, Feb. 11.
A reliable source confirmed today that General Francisco Franco, the Spanish Chief of State, and Senor Ramon Serrano Suner, the Spanish Foreign Minister, both of whom crossed southern France this morning on their way to Italy, will confer with Signor Mussolini and, possibly, with Herr Hitler.
On their way back to Madrid, the two Spanish statesmen will see Marshal Philippe Petain, the Chief of the French State, who left Vichy this evening for his estate at Ville~ nerve-Loubet, near Antibes, on the French Riviera.
While there was no definite infor-motion as to the object of General Franco's hurried trip to Italy, varied rumours were current here tonight with regard to Spain's future role in face of the new war developments in the Mediterranean-
