The opening event of the day is the Beef Stakes and in this race the more robust and pear-shaped members of the Club officially known as "Heavyweights"—will have an opportunity of showing these jockeys the gentl of race-riding. It is too early make any predictions but from wi I can see it is probable that the winner will be a "Z" pony, capably ridden by a 190-pounder. I unders' that among the "Heavyweights" this year will be "Buffy" Maitland who, until last Autumn, was still one of the leading jockeys. That does not mean, however, that he is going to win!
