Native of Denmark

Mr. Knudsen, former production genius of the General Motors Corporation, came to America from Denmark at the age of 20 to work in New York shipyards. Since last June he has been chairman of the national defence advisory commission which OPIN supersedes but does not entirely replace.

Mr. Hillman also emigrated to the United States at the age of 20. He came from Lithuania and since then has been an active labour leader tu the clothing industry. Before becoming a member of the defence advisory commission he was vice-president of the C.LO. and president of the Amalgamated. Clothing Workers of America.

Paradoxically, both Mr. Knudsen's and Mr. Hillman's native countries are victims of the war in Eurove.

Mr. Knudsen's Denmark is now under the "protection" of Germany. Mr. Hillman's Lithuania was taken over by Russia after its war with Finland.

Mr. Knudsen becomes director general of the OPIN; Mr. Hillman associate director general. Col. Stimson and Col. Knox will participate in the OPIN'S work of policy-making and surveys.
