Britain May Need U.S

Foodstuffs Soon

America Said Ready to Answer Call Washington, Feb, 23.

Mr. Claude R. Wickard; Secretary of Agriculture, yesterday said Britain soon may need American foodstuffs and that "I think we will answer the call."

"It doesn't make sense to furnish them with munitions to stand off the Nazis, if we then deny them food which will give them strength to fly our planes and shoot our guns," he said.

Mr. Wickard said the United States possesses ample reserves to meet British as well as domestic demands.
