Famous Horses in U.S

Gather for Race Santa Anita Handicap on

March 2

Los Angeles, Feb. 16.

Most of the nation's most famous horses, including Mr. Charles S. Howard's Kayak W and Seabiscuit have arrived here to prepare for the sixth running of the $100,000 Santa Anita Handicap, scheduled for March 2.

Ninety-five candidates were nominated for the race, but one of them, Mr. Neil McCarthy's Today, was recently killed in a training accident, reducing the entry list to 94. Today reared, fell over backwards and broke his neck.

Other notable horses nominated include the Millsdale Stable's Sun Lover; Mr. Townsend B. Martin's Cravat; Mr. A. A. Baroni's Specify; Mr. Bing Grosby's Ra N and Don Mike; and Mr. Mervyn Leroy's (the producer) Shangay Lilly.—Reuter.
