Unrestricted U-Boat Drive Minimized

London Not Impressed Convoy Safety Stressed London, Feb. 20.

Germany's threat of launching unrestricted submarine warfare as a result of the Altmark incident is considered as vain in Admiralty quarters here, Last week, four German submarines were sunk in six days, while aliother two are believed destroyed. Up till February 14, no less than 8,969 merchant ships went under British naval convoys, and of this number' only nineteen were lost, or one in every 472.

Among the neutral ships sunk last week, two were not mentioned in official dispatches, these being the Finnish vessel Wilja (3,996 tons) and the Norwegian freighter Sangstad The former sank after an explosion, while the latter was torpedoed by a German submarine. The crew of the Wilja were saved, and 29 sailors from the Sangstad were rescued.—Havas.
