Suen's leadership in opening up ihe play gave China a 2-goal lead in the first three minutes. The first one came in the second minute, starting with a movement from Suen io Tsao. The latter trapped the ball for Hyui to beat Downie with a fast grounder within ten yards of the posts, Shortly after the two early goals, Duncan missed a fine chance to cut down the margin. Chang mis kicked centre from Sims. The inside-left grounded a fast one only to see the shot roll across the goal and miss the far post by less than two feet.
Hall was robbed of a "certain" goal by Tsai right in the goal-mouth. Cochran passed ahead of the winger, but before he could shoot Tsai des-conded upon him and cleared with a sliding tackle.
