At the present time Italians in Shanghai are attending various churches in the city and on special occasions are attending Mass on board Italian warships in port.. When the new church is erected Shanghai will have its own Italian Church and nearby will be an Italian Hospital, which will be constructed on medium lines, specially for the use of sick members of the community.
Perhaps the greatest need of the Italian community will be catered for when the school is built. At present there is no Ttalian school in the city and the younger members of the community are attending various foreign schools. This will be the largest of the new buildings and will be constructed on modern lines, similar to the spacious premises seen in Italy.
As a social centre the Italian Club will be situated in the same group of buildings and it will be built on pretentious lines. When completed the various premises will provide an attractive landmark in Shanghai and will fi a long-felt want on the part of the Italian community for their own religious, educational and hospital centres. The purchase price of the land has not been disclosed.
