Lots ¢f will be under the same heading them have come from Calcutta and], various parts of India, and about 50 have come all the way from home. Our course lasts four months, then we are sent to various regiments and very possibly go to Egypt.
Everything is very well organized and when we arrived at Bombay and Bangalore we were met by Army officers and everything was arranged for us. If there are any more men trying to get away encourage them to come; we are really required here. We have special army instructors and very long hours; most of us are dead eat by the end of the day. We all have (o learn Hindu, this is stressed fas being very important, "Our first parade is at 7am. We have to get up at about 6 am. we work on parade until 8.30, then brooke Vast and start again at 10 and work until' 130, then {iMn, start again at 230 and nish at 430, then we are free to do what we like, but we are so dead that we just flop into bed.
Dress for Dinner "We have to dress for dinner every night except Sunday! We get Saturday af.ernoons and Sundays free. Our pay is 405 rupees a month and 500 rupees kit allowance which is very good. The town is having a small boom as there have never been many bachelors in the place before and they are coining money. thoroughly enjoying this life at the moment all out of doors and Grand fun, We are being trained in everything, gas, anti-aircraft fire ete. ete. We have had a full month now fand are becoming quite old hands, Each week one of us becomes Platoon-Commander or section leader etc, etc We do quite a lot of shooting' and start pistol tung next week 1 Yesterday was Sunday and some of us went snipe shooting; we were Jout the whole day out only brought ack two snipe. We saw quite a lot but am afraid we missed most of them! This place gets up dances! every week-end in ald of War Funds and last Saturday there was a huge} ball given at the Residency which was marvellous; the house and grounds are enormous."
