Night at Kiangwan

Two. Shanghai residents were forced to spend the night in the Kiangwan Golf Club whet Peace Preservation Corps members closed the road there. Some foreign residents living in Kiangwan Road were warned to move into safer areas and other foreign residents living beyond the Rokusan Gardens in Dixwell Road were also warned to move.

The "North-China Daily News" made enquiries of the Chinese police late last night; the latter denied that' any official warnings had been given. It was believed possible that these warnings were given by the usual rumour-mongers who were intending to profit by them.
