Gratitude to Japan

"The Shanghai Ashkenazi Jewish Communal Association which recogni izes the authority of the Jewish National Council of the Far East in Harbin, feels deep gratitude towards the Japanese Government for its just, humanitarian, and unprejudiced attitude towards us, and for the assistance which it has given to our brethren refugees from Europe at the critical time of their forced emigration from the land of their forefathers to the unknown shores of Shanghai.

"The Shanghai Ashkenazi Jewish Communal Association feels confident that the Japanese authorities, knowing the sincere feeling of the Far Eastern Jewry towards Japan, will not give undue consideration to the irresponsible statements of private persons and takes this opportunity to point out that Sir Victor Sassoon is not and has never been a member of the Shanghai Ashkenazi Jewish Communal Association.". The resolution was signed by Mr. B. A. Topas, acting president.
