US. Presidential Choice Narrowing

Mr. Hull May Have Chance If Mr, Roosevelt Declines

Washington, Mar. 9.

Some Democrats yesterday asserted privately that the Democratic choice for Presidential nominee is rapidly narrowing to President Roosevelt and Sher Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hu It was generally agreed that Mr. Roosevelt could easily renominate himself unless he could be headed off by those against his running for a third term, who so far have been silent, by denouncing him before or during the convention.

Mr. Jack Owing, the eastern states manager of Mr. Paw V. McNutt, Federal Security Administrator and Óormer High Commissioner to the Philippines, said Mr. McNutt's chances for nomination were "making unbelievable headway" in the eastern states among rank and file Democrats.

Mr. McNutt, in a speech before the Young Democrats at Charlestown, West Virginia, yesterday, predicted that the United States would never abandon New Deal social reforms.—
