German Communique

Berlin, Mar. 17.

"The German Air Force, with strong fighting forces, attacked units of the British Fleet at Scapa Flow on Saturday evening," states a German communique issued today.

"At least four—warships—three battleships and one cruiser—were hit ty bombs and severely damaged. The damage of two further warships is probable. Aerodromes at Stromness and Kirkwall, as well as anti-aircraft positions were attacked and bombed. Despite strong defence by fighters and anti-aircraft fire, the German planes carried out their orders successfully and returned without loss."—Reuter.
