NDITIONS in Holland under Nazi occupation were the subject of a talk by Mr van Weezel Errens over Station XCDN last Sunday night.
Mrs. Errens was guest s weaker of the station on the weekly half hour programme "Inside Occupied Europe," and gave many interesting facts of the ruthlessness of the Germans in stripping the country to satisfy their own needs; the consequence is that Netherlanders are in pitiable condition.
Extracts from the broadcast follow "Accurate information regarding the "new order" that the Germans have brought to the Netherlands has recently been brought to London by a Netherlander who escaped from his Nazi-occupied territory.
"The informant had many interesting details to add to the generally known record of progressive economic despoliation and moral decay, while the German-controlled wireless and the newspapers day after day paint glowing, though extremely hazy, pictures of the great benefits that Germany has brought and will still bring to the Netherlands, The grim reality'is that the economic situation of the Netherlands is rapidly becoming increasingly ruinous.
"Certain facts have come to light which show that the unwarranted invasion of our country by the Germans, was more than a simple matter of military necessity. There are definite indications that the invaders are trying to organize affairs in Holland in such a manner as to make the Netherlands subservient to the German war machine in the hope of reducing our country to a vassal state of the German European Reich, which we all know to be a Reich of dreams or rather of Nazi nightmares, "We will give you a few examples of these German efforts to enslave our country and so we find from the Netherlands newspapers some re. markable views on the important economic problems of our country as seen by Dr, Fischbock, the German—Commissioner-General for Financial and Economic Affairs.
