New York, May 6.
Seventeen experts on military and political affairs—including four retired Admirals—yesterday declared that statements Britain already had lost the war and cannot be saved by U.S, aid were unwarranted, In a joint statement the experts said that "the essential element of British survival and ultimate victory is maintenance of a sufficient flow of shipping across the Atlantic, "American naval and air forces now possess striking power, as in 1917, to equalize and perhaps turn to our' advantage the struggle now waging along convoy routes," the statement said, Signers of the statement included Admirals William " V. Pratt and William H, Standley, both former Chiefs of Naval Operations; Vice-Admiral William L, Rodgers, former president of the Naval War College and Rear-Admiral Harry E. Yarnell, former Commander-in-Chief of the Asiatic Fleet, The experts gave eight reasons for their belief and concluded that "even if it is true—which we deny—that Britain is destined to lose the war, it is imperative that: Chancellor Hitler's victory be as long delayed and as costly as possible."—United Press,
