London, Apr. 30. 'AILS of the work of a coastal command of the air force over the Norwegian coast were given to Reuter by a squadron commander.
He said a reconnaissance plane observed a U-boat lying at the edge of a fjord. The plane. flew low and dropped bombs which found their mark, the submarine, if not destroyed, was certainly badly damaged.
Coastal command planes thoroughly investigated and photographed every fjord and much good work was done in dropping light and incendiary bombs. Several German machines, including a Messerschmitt 110, were destroyed or damaged on Norwegian air bases and a number of petrol dumps were fired, though generally speaking the work of the unit was to act more as a deterrent than a destroying force, British air losses during the past busy month were surprisingly small.
