Tokyo, June 18.
Japanese papers are continuing to play up all news which is favourable to Germany. Official and unofficial circles are reported to be closely watching all possible future developments in Europe which might affect the position of the French colonies.
The "Asahi Shimbun" says it seems that some circles are already advocating that France should place French Indo-China and New Caledonia, the position of which deeply affect Japan, under a joint Anglo-Japanese guarantee.
"On these colonial issues in East Asia, we can no longer ignore Germany's voice, and its future trend Will have much relationship with Japan's policy towards the south," the paper adds.—Reuter.
