US. Transport Sails From Shanghai

The USS. Henderson left Shanghai yesterday afternoon, presumably on a trip to Chinwangtao where she is expected to pick up the United States Embassy Guard in Peioing. The latter, said to be about 70 in number. left Peiping for Chinwangtao last Thursday.

The transport also took 270 Marines. who had finished tour of duty in Shanghai. as well as a number of sailors of the U.S. Asiatic Fleet. to the United States.

It is learned that, although the actual number of the U.S. Embassy guards has not been released by the authorities. the replacements are very much smaller than the number that has left. The Marine Band has left Peiping for good and will not be replaced. There are about 150 Marines still on duty in Peiping.

The Henderson. first American transport here this year. arrived in port at 12 noon on Saturday, after having been delayed in Woosung. She was made fast to the British Naval buoys.
