Envoy Sees Petain

London, June 5. The United States Ambassador in Vichy, Admiral William Leahy, yesterday saw Marshal Philippe Petain, head of the French State, and is reported to have asked the marshal for a statement on French policy.

The Vichy Government has ordered the most vigorous censorship of all despatches from newspaper correspondents in Vichy dealing with Franco-German collaboration.

Marshal Petain himself made no reference to Germany, Syria or Tunisia when he spoke yesterday about the so-called new order which he has planned for France—Reuter.
