Another Campaign

Against Snatching, Thieving

To the Editor of the "Nonri-Cutra Darcy News"

Sm—We have had a safety first campaign, a no tooting campaign, and there is now talk of an Anti-Spitting campaign. Don't you think it is time that an anti-snatching campaign was started by our Police Force? Admittedly they have a lot to do tout surely the time has come when they should start some sort of a campaign against stealers. small bag-snatchers around Wing On's and coolies who steal cargo from. trucks in full view of the police, and s0 on, Surely it would be easy to instil a little public spirit into the aver~ age Chinese to. assist' when such snatchings and petty thieveries are faking place and get the Chinese man-in-the-street, to lend a hand and catch these fellows. Perhaps the legal side of the question of what to do with these men, or under what heading they should be charged.

hen "arrested, may trouble the fal minds of the Police Force. In such case I suggest they should ask the advice of the Japanese gendarmes and/or military, who seem to be able to make arrests without wa rant and without. acy _particul charge against the men arrested.
