Eighty Rumanian soldiers and peasants and 100 Hungarian soldiers were killed in a fierce battle between villages in the Satu-Mare district, south of the Ruthenian-Soviet frontier, yesterday as vidence flared throughout Transylvania in protest against the. transfer of the territory to Hungary.
High Rumanian officials here regarded the fight as isolated, It did not change their conviction that Rumanian resistance to the transfer was continuing to subside.
The Royal Resident here said Hungarian troops had entered Trans; mania in the extreme north of Satu-Mare, but had net yet reached the area where hostilities were in progress,
