Most Exciting Final

"There was no doubt as to which was the most exciting of the finals yesterday. Aitkenhead and Sequeirs battled on for 26 ends before they could reach a decision. Sequeira finally lost by a single shot after letting slip a fine chance to capture the title on the 25th head. With an advantage of 20-18, the—Hongkew Golf Club bowler needed only a single to gain the upper hand on this end; the play at this stage was so close that a measure had to be taken to see who was laying the critical shot. Aitkenhead's wood was given the decision swith the result that the Y.B.C. bowler trailed by only 19-20. A two by Aitkenhead on the next end saw the title pass into his hands.

Actually the competition was not so close throughout as Aitkenhead held a handsome margin of 12-4 on the ninth head after a quick start. Sequeira trailed for nearly the whole game and it was not until the 24th end that he finally saw the lead by 20-18.
