"HYTEMPITE" DRAIN PIPES

Special Fire Cement ide and out Glazed in species of timber unless completely submerged in water or exposed to the sunlight.

Another difficulty with the elephant-powered plan arose when it was discovered that long hauls were often necessary to obtain enough of a specified species to complete an urgent order of the mill. Elephants are very efficient in short, hard pulls and their cleverness in manceuvring and juggling logs out of tight places is well known. But the elephants did not like the long, steady hauls, even when a rough corduroy road was built and rollers used under the logs.

Faced with these difficulties, the Borneo Ca., Ltd., decided to try one tractor before bringing in more elephants from Siam. They placed an order for one International Harvester T.D.18 TracTracTor equipped with a Carco winch. The elephants would be used to "feed" the tractors, work "stuck" logs out of the' creeks when the water dropped, and any similar work they could do.
