New York City, N.Y., Sept. 26

Jose R. Capablanca, of Cuba, who held the chess championship of the world for seven years, has arrived in New York anxious for another championship match for the title with Dr. Alexander Alekhine. How-fever, since the fall of France to the Germans, Dr, Alekhine's whereabouts are unknown over here, the last th was heard of him being shortly before the fall of Paris, when efforts by him to arrange a chess exhibition under the National Chess Centre in London came to naught.

Dr. Alekhine had become a French citizen as a Russian expatriate following the accession to power of the Soviets. Until a few years ago he was a welcome visitor to German chess circles, having defeated E. D. Bogoljubow, another Russian expatriate. i Capablanca, who is to remain in New York for some time, is hopeful that it may be possible to arrange a match with Dr. Alekhine at some future date, provided the latter is available and amenable to the idea.
