When Nazis Sank Finnish Steamer

This picture of the blazing 3,645 tons Finnish steamer, Carolina Thorden, was taken as a resctie boat approached the vessel after she had been bombed by German aircraft off Thorshavn, Faroe Islands, located between Norway and Iceland. Neutral markings were visible on the doomed ship dut this did not deter the valiant Nazi airmen from sending the Carolina Thorden to the bottom—perhaps @ reminder to Finland that all would not go so well with that country unless there wad full cooperation with the Nazis, Today Finland is fighting on the Nazt side against Russia, The European War, July 13.
