Japanese planes based in French Indo-China will bomb the Chinese side of the Burma Highway at dawn tomorrow, weather permitting, Captain K. Chudo, head of the Japanese naval mission to French Indo-China, told the United Press here today.
He said Japanese planes based in this country under the terms of the recent Franco-Japanese agreement would attempt to paralyze the Burma Highway supply route as scon as the highway is reopened.
Captain Chudo said the main cons cern of the Japanee naval mission here now is the establishment of air bases from which to bomb China. He added, however, that should Japan need more naval bases in Indo-China, in addition to the Haiphong base, the French probably would agree.
Referring to Japan's new military alliance with Germany and Italy, Captain Chudo said, "Future French cooperation in giving Japan the use of Indo-China naval bases wil be obtained through Germany, because the Vichy Government is under Chancellor Hitler's government now,"
Captain Chudo said he did not believe Japan would attack Hongkong which he described as a "rotten "It is no use for Japan to shake that tree," he said, "because nothing but rotten apples will drop anyway." United Press.
