There are no reports about any change in the position at Leningrad. The Germans are obviously going al out to capture the city before the winter, regardless of terrific losses. A Swiss journalist in Berlin reports that the present operations are aimed al breaking the morale of the army and people of Leningrad, and that the Germans are using the greatest mass of aircraft ever seen in war. The Russians admit that German bombers started several fires in the city on Tuesday.

The magnificent spirit of the people was proved in a broadcast from Leningrad yesterday and again this morning. Microphones picked up the sounds of activity in the streets and factories, the wailing of air-raid sirens and the roar of anti-aircraft guns.

Back in the city again the broadcast for said the whole city was throbbing with the rhythm of hard work. Everybody is subject to the sam dangers. everybody is fighting back in the same spirit This morning, Leningrad Radin broadcast a stern and resolute message to the world. "Women who have never held a spade in their hands are digging the heavy damn soil. building trenches and rampart Many of them have husbands in the army. and now they are fighting for the Fatherland," exclaimed the an nouricer.

A sailor next made ah appeal ta the citizens of Leningrad to cooperate with the navy in defence of the city. "The navy will never let the enemy through." he said.
