Landed Safely

London, May 21, The Egyptian ship Zamzam (8,299 tons) was sunk by a German raider after the passengers and crew had been taken aboard a German warship; they have now been landed safely in occupied France, claimed a Berlin broadcast fast night, Later reports reaching London from Berlin say that the Germans are now circulating reports that the Zamzam sunk by a mine. It is pointed cut. however. that if she went down in the deep waters of the South Atlantic it is extremely unlikely that mines would have been encountered there. In any case if she did strike floating mine, how did the Germans know about it? On the other hand, this part of the Atlantic is known to be frequented by German pirates, and her sinking by torpedo is much r-ore likely The conflicting stories of the fate of the ship, her passengers and crew are causing concern all over the world, particularly in America and Canada, whose nationals were aboard this ambulance ship.
