Chungking, May 23.
Commenting on the return to Japan of Mr. Mamoru Shigemiteu Ambassador to Britain, the official "Central Daily News" says it is an indication that Anglo-Japanese reinüsms are becoming worse.
White Mr. Shigemitsu states this o indication of worsening of Anglo-Japanese relations, we do not share that view," says the paper. "The recent statements in the House of Commons by Mr. Anthony Eden expressing determination to support China's resistance and voicing disapproval of Japanese discrimination against British interest in China, also the statement by the British Ambassador, Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, regarding the Burma Road have dealt a serious blow to Japan.
"The fundamental cause of the deterioration Anglo-Japanese ro-lations lies with Japan whose aggres-in China and destruction of ish rights and interests in the Far East are mainly responsible for the present position. The key to the is whether Japan will realise her mistakes. When Mr Shigemitsu returns to Tokyo will he give this question his serious considerations?"—Reuter.
