An incident, which might have resulted in serious injuries to a Russian watchman of the Argentina Night Club when he was threatened by six men in uniform, wes averted in the nick of time by an employee of the establishment. who felephoned the Western Shanghai Area Special Police Force. The latter arrived at the scene and regulated the incident satisfactorily.
The management of the night club! stated that at about 10 a.m. yesterday someone from the house adjacent to the Argentina felled a large tree. which dropped into the club's garden and damaged numerous tables and chairs.
The Russian watchman wanted to make the party concerned resoonsible for the damage. It was then, the management stated, that six Chinese in uniform appeared on the spot and assumed a threatening attitude toward the Russian, who risked being beaten up.
The bookkeeper of the night club immediately telephoned to the Western area police and the incident was ironed out.
