As I anticipated, in my last, the weather on the second day of the Regatta proved most favourable, and the breeze which got up in the afternoon was perfect for the sailing races. The flagship was well patronised, and the fleet of steam-munches was, if anything, larger than ever; but the course was better kept than has been the case on some previous occasions. The German crew, as I expected, carried off the International Cup. There was not, however, a very: overwhelming Teutonic element in the personnel of the winning crew. Three of them were Lammerts, colonial-born youths, English on the maternal side. Their win was very popular, the public always rejoicing to see the native-born youngsters distinguishingthemselves in any form of sport.
