At the meeting of the Legislative Council, held on the lst inst., an amendment to the Estimates in the shape of an addition of $500 was proposed as a vote towards the maintenance of the band of the Hongkong Regiment, which was cheerfully and unanimously agreed to. Colonel Barrow, when making application for this very modest contribution, said the band would be at the service of and play regularly for the public. The senior unotiicial member, speaking for his colleagues, and T am sure for the community, most cordially concurred in the grant.
