Notes from the South

The past week dry, only a few light bowers having felloe, has again been fine and, for the most part, doing little yood either to vegetation of to the water supply. To-day the temperature has risen, and there are no signs of rain, which is much needed.

The plague has practically ceased, but occasional eases still occur. I suppose we shall see its entire disappearance, until next spring, in the course of the present month: I fear, however, that, like the ghost of Banque, it will reappear at intervals.
