The splendid assistance offered by all our great self-governing colonies and gratefully accepted by the Imperial Government is the most remarkable evidence which hax yet been afforded of the growing solidarity of the British Empire. On Wednesday the New South Wales Lancers who have deen over here for a six months' course of and who have volunteered for service in South Africa, took their departure feom Tilbury in the Nineveh, marehing through the city on their way from Aldershot: to the port. The whole route from Waterloo Station to Fenchurch Street was thronged with cheering crowds; anda halt was made in front of the Mansion House while the Lord Mayor, on behalf of the capital, thanked the colonial soldiers and wished them God speed. They area fine body of men, and they have devoted themselves with' a will to their training since they have been among us, in spite of the temptations which have been put in their way in the shape of hospitality and admiration.
