The Prize Court.
The steamers captured from the Rus-sinus by the Japanese Navy have not yet. been definitely added to the Japanese mercantile marine. The legal preliminaries have not so far been fully satisfied, and until they are no final step will be taken. But in the meanwhile the ships and.their appurtenances have been duly valued, and they will be employed by the Government, who will hold themselves liable in the amount of the valuation should restitution be ultimately- ordered by law. The change of the ships' names to Japanese is merely a matter of convenience. The Saseho Prize Court is expected to reopen its session on the 15th inst. to hear petitions preferred by the owners of the steamers Nicolai, Michael, and Alexander, and some merchandise declared to he lawful prizes of war.
