G. B. Boyers 11 12—8 W. J. Gande 9 8-3

Mr. G.B. Palmer had also entered, but did not go out. After the delay at the start already referred to, there was another curious incident before the race got well under way. The gun fired and the three men pulled off, Gande with the inside station getting a two lengths lead The other two fouled; exactly whose fault it wns could not be soon from the Press launch, but both stopped. Thereupon the umpires hulled Mr. Gande, who stopped also, and the race was restarted from the curtailed distance. This time Mr. Gande was not in it at all. He appeared to get too near in to shore and was in trouble with his oars. Mr. Boyers went ahead, but Mr. Chicken, rowing a longer, steadier stroke, gradually overhauled his opponent and came in with substantial margin to spare. Mr. Gande completed the [course. Official time for the race after the second start was 10mins. 24secs.
